The publication presents the history of the Vilnius Higher Castle Hill from the first archaeological finds of the early settlement dated to the first half of the 1st millennium A.D., the appearance of the castle in the 13th century, its restoration and architectural reconstructions in various historical periods until our days. The Higher Castle Tower, which has become a symbol of the capital and the state, today holds a historical exhibition of weapons and the castle’s iconography of the National Museum of Lithuania. The publication is illustrated with valuable iconographic documents.
