Archaeological finds from Vilnius castles represent the origins of the city of Vilnius and the history of the residence of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania. During the excavations in the Crooked, Higher and Lower Castles, the Cathedral, the Old and the New Arsenals and their surroundings conducted from 1933 to 2014, large collections of 14th–18th century household and construction ceramics and tiles were accumulated. Various metal, leather, bone, wooden, glass and stone artefacts reflect the living environment of the rulers of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, their courts and retinues, daily life, warfare, occupations and pastimes.
