The 600th anniversary of the Christianisation of Samogitia (1413–2013) gives us an occasion to remember the old portraits in the hope of reviving historical memory and supplementing it with new insights. The collection of portraits of Samogitian bishops consists of forty paintings. The portraits of all bishops except one (Jan Hieronim Kryszpin-Kirszensztein) are reproduced along with Latin inscriptions, their translations into Lithuanian and short information on Samogitian bishops. It is the most comprehensive publication of this collection of portraits.
