The Great Seimas of Vilnius

During the excursion-lesson, schoolchildren learn about the national liberation movement and the initiators of the Great Seimas of Vilnius. Moreover, they discuss the issue concerning the ban of the Lithuanian press, read various texts written at that time, and work on the meaning of the words that are no longer used.


February 16, 1918

In the room of the house of the Signatories where the Act of Independence of Lithuania was signed schoolchildren read the first page of the daily Lietuvos Aidas (Eng. Echo of Lithuania), where the Council of Lithuania announced the independence of Lithuania, and learn about the signatories of the February 16, 1918 and their fates.


Dr. Jonas Basanavicius – the Patriarch of Revived Lithuania

During various occupations taking place in the House of the Signatories, schoolchildren learn about the circumstances of the restoration of the State of Lithuania in 1918. They are also told about the activities of Dr. Jonas Basanavicius, the nurturer of ethnic culture as well as the Lithuanian language and folklore. Afterwards, schoolchildren read and discuss the fairy tales and myths from his native region of Ozkabaliai.
